Series leader Troy Bayliss, who was due to arrive in Assen yesterday for the Dutch Round of the championship, suffered a major scare last wednesday when he crashed on his bicycle while training in Monte Carlo, and came away with cuts and grazes and a sore back in the process. The Aussie will have a check-up at the Clinica Mobile but will be fit to race this weekend.

2008 challenge gets underway for Valentino Rossi in Sepang Valentino Rossi completed a mainly positive first day of testing in Malaysia today as the first of four pre-season tests began for the Fiat Yamaha Team. Setting the second best time of the day behind Randy De Puniet, the Spaniard slid off at Turn 11, injuring his right hand.
