2008 MCRCB Superbike Regulations
The objective is to retain present power levels and reduce costs
The MCRCB and the Association of Motor Racing Circuit Owners (AMRCO) are concerned to ensure that the current success of the British Superbike Championship is built upon to ensure a great future. Particularly important issues are closeness of competition, cost of participating, and safety. Discussions have taken place with the FIM, FGSport (World Superbike Promoters) and other organisers of National Superbike Series including the USA, Australia, Germany and Japan to find a common set of regulations that can be used for all series. As a result, the MCRCB are close to reaching an agreed set of regulations with the FIM that will be in principle the same chassis regulations as at present but with engine modifications limited to the type used in the Supersport class. The objective is to retain present power levels and reduce costs.
The MCRCB are also looking at other ways of reducing costs including the control of tyres used at British Superbike events.
Further information will be released by November with a final decision on the regulations by March 2007.
