Nicky Hayden heads the time sheets in the first free practice. © Repsol Media Service. Series leader Nicky Hayden set the fastest time of the first practice session at Brno circuit. The American´s time of 159"389 was closely followed by Valentino Rossi, just 0"047 off the Honda rider.

Equality has been dominant in the morning´s free practice as top eight riders have round under 2'00". Toni Elías eighth place is just 0"506 seconds off the fastest lap of this morning session. Thrid place went to Marco Melandri, ahead of Kenny Roberts Jr. and Spaniard Dani Pedrosa - 0"288 seconds off his team-mate fastest time -, Aussie Casey Stoner, Shinya Nakano and Elías completed the first top eight riders, all under a time of 2'00".

Colin Edwards set ninth best time ahead of Loris Capirossi and John Hopkins while José Luis Cardoso and Iván Silva close the time sheet of this first free practice at Brno circuit.
