Airwaves Ducati return to racing action this weekend in round one of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the 2.6 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit. Both Gregorio Lavilla and Leon Haslam return, with support from title sponsors Wrigley's Airwaves, for a third consecutive year in BSB. The team enjoyed a successful 2006 winning the Manufacturers title, with Leon coming 2nd and Gregorio Lavilla 3rd in the championship.

Both riders attended the official launch of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship in London's Piccadilly yesterday and had the chance to enjoy an open top bus ride around the capitals tourist spots.

This circuit, the longer of the two at Brands Hatch, holds mixed memories for the Airwaves Ducati riders. In last years season finale here Leon Haslam achieved a 2nd place followed by a win but teammate Gregorio Lavilla failed to finish both races. However the team are very confident having completed their full testing schedule with both riders performing well and clocking fast times.

I think this year's championship will be exciting and it will be a close competition between a number of riders. Testing has been good, but I always say the winter is the winter, and now the races are starting each rider will be put in his place. Personally I just want to start the season positively; I want to do as well as I can in practice and qualifying so we are ready to perform in Monday's race."

Leon Haslam also plans to start the season strongly saying, "Brands Hatch is a track I really enjoy, especially as a season opener. We plan to start the year as we mean to go on; if we start as well as we ended last year then I'll be happy. Last year was awesome, I achieved 20 out of 24 possible podiums and got 3 wins but my focus will be on increasing my race wins this year. However week in week out I reckon there will be 8 riders who are capable of winning. We know each bike out there has its advantages but the Airwaves Ducati 999F06 is an awesome package and my aim will be the podium in every race."

The 2006 Bennetts British Superbike season will commence on Easter Monday April 9th at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit.
